What colour(s) should I paint my new living room/kitchen?

I have dark chocolate brown leather couches a 3 seater and a love seat along with dark brown tables and white contemporary lamps. Everything is very clean lines and modern. In the room there is a a white fireplace with creamy marble surround and beige carpet. On either side of the fireplace wall is a window with white blinds- california shutter style. I'd like to make that my accent wall with a dark rich chocolate brown, or maybe red with perhaps a lighter colour on the other walls... I don't know. Our living room is next to the kitchen but separated by a half wall with a white column. The cupboards in there are dark chocolate brown and we have stainless steel appliances and cream floors and counter tops. Please any specific colours or combinations and suggestions would be so very appreciate. Thanks in advance.

I love the idea of a red accent wall - something like "red stallion" by Dulux:

Then I would paint the rest of the room a pale purple, almost gray, like "violet surprise":
