How harmful is to clean your oil paint brushes in your kitchen sink?

I do not have a sink specially for crafts and I do oil painting. I always clean my brushes which have also been mixed with mineral spirits in my kitchen sink.

I always make sure I clean the sink with detergent and hot water. I am a clean freak and no matter how much I clean it I am afraid it could be unhealthy. I have children and I would not want them to get sick in any way.

I have been doing this for about 6 months, so I am guessing I am on the clear ???

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

As long as there is not any dried paint on the sink, or any stuck on the nozel where the water excretes from, you should be okay. Just make sure you don't leave anything remaining, because paint can be toxic and harmful to the digestive track and may even be fatal! So, as long as you clean it well and don't just leave it there to dry and get all crusty, you should be okay.
