Painting the interior of a refrigerator... not a good idea, correct?

Okay... let's say I have this friend... and they spray painted the inside of their small "dorm room" refrigerator before realizing this might not be such a wise move. So, first question... this is in fact, not a good idea, right? And second, would removing the paint (if possible) allow for future use? This is just a hypothetical scenario of course, no one actually did this... certainly not myself; never would I be so completely retarded.
