Doing research on a painting we found?

I am doing research on this picture.
We bought a place in Texas a few years ago and the lady that did live here was an art teacher who has long been deceased. What I am trying to do is get a lead on the style. Or who may have painted it or how old it is. We found it in the old wooden shed back in the back part of our pastor. The art teacher was from some Indian tribe and has made trips to places like New Orleans,
We know this from the man we bought the place from. So would anyone have a clue to things like is this an Indian or French painting we know that it was hand painted and placed in a frame plus there are many other things in that old shed my wife had cleaned up and did her best to sort things .
There are so many old things that I know we will enjoy finding out about them . Thank you Tex.
