How can I removge sticky residue from painted wall...?

My husband put up some baby ABC posters when our baby was born, he used those double sided white sticky pads instead of simple blue-tack, now the pads are half stuck to the wall, and I cant get them off properly. I can pick them off a bit, but its leaving bits of it all over the wall and it looks awful!

Any ideas?
