Can I paint shoe molding / quarter-round molding before installing it?

Can I paint shoe molding / quarter-round molding before installing it?

Just what the question says. Can I paint shoe molding before I install it? Then I can go back and fill and paint the nail holes. It seems like this is a lot easier than trying to paint all of it after it is installed.

Please explain where you get your answer... Thanks
