| Is it really necessary to use acrylic gesso before painting in acrylics ??? I have cardboards.. yes I agree the gesso on them helps to eaven the surface and make it more smooth and change the colour to classical white if the cardboard happens to be brown... but can i paint with acrylics on this cardboard without the gesso ??? I also have other surfaces that are pure white wonderful and even(or is it eaven) plastic. So what does the acrylic gesso exactly do to the surface and to the acrylics when they are applied ???
