What is an easy-removal way to decorate walls without painting or wallpapering?

What is an easy-removal way to decorate walls without painting or wallpapering?

I rent a room in a townhouse and I don't think we're allowed to paint the walls. Even if I tried to get away with it, I don't want the stress of having to paint white over some dark color when I move out. I've lived there for 3 years now and I'm extremely tired of looking at the nasty white walls. Any ideas for a temporary fix?
