| Can you paint fondant icing with food colouring? I am making my dad a birthday cake this friday (don't worry I have a bit of experience  ) and I want to make two fondant icing versions of our dogs to go on the top. Our spaniel has brown markings. Would it work if I was to paint a white fondant icing dog with brown food colouring? Or.. would it run? What do you advise?     |

| Yes you can paint the icing- I've done this with black food colouring before to make a Jolly Roger cake for the preschool I work at. If you keep the brush fairly dry- ie, only use a very little food colouring at a time- it won't run. |
