Shelly P has a spectacular aura about
Buying new bumper... paint question?

HI.. I want to replace the bumper on my Mazda Protege because it's looking pretty bad.. (2 different minor "scuffles")

If I buy an unpainted replacement bumper, what kind of paint do I have to buy? (I'm having a friend/professional do the painting, I'm just trying to figure out how much I'm going to be spending)

I found a place selling 12.5 basecoat spray can.. what else do I need.. what if the unpainted bumper is listed as "primed"??

do I need basecoat or clearcoat or both?? primer??

I'm just trying to price to see when I can do this..

also.. best price on an unpainted (or silver) rear bumper for a 2002 Mazda Protege??

Thanks.. advice and explanations will be helpful..
Jack, thanks for the advice..

My bumper looks bad enough that I really don't t hink it can be fixed.. it's pretty bad.. (Major indentations, paint scraped off)

I'm open to finding a new (looking) allready silver bumper.. I found a couple on this one salvage yard connection website,

But unless I got a silver one, wouldn't a used one still have to be painted (plus the cost of the chemicals to remove the original paint??)
