Paint removal???

I have a wall that paint on it OVER partially removed wallpaper. You can see where the wallpaper was and still is. Any ideas on how to make the wall look decent again for new paint, short of tearing it out and hanging new Sheetrock??

Best thing to do is remove as much wallpaper as you can...then rent a texture blowing gun and air compressor. Blow a new coating of texture on the wall...let it dry a couple of days...then paint it what ever color you want. It will look just like you completely replaced the whole wall.

Use a good primer like "Fresh Start" by Benjamin Moore and then paint it the color you want. I suspect you will still see hints of the wallpaper, but priming the wall will stabilize it enough (and maybe even blend the wallpaper lines to a degree), so that it will look fresh and decent. Oh, and don't use paint with any sheen to it--stick with flat, it's the most forgiving of flaws in the surface of the wall!
