What is the difference between oil based and enamel paint (for exteriors of houses)?

If cost of paint is no object, what kind of paint is the best for exteriors? Latex, oil based, enamel, water based for a stucco house in the San Francisco bay area. Rainy winters. Temps range from 40-70s. Occasional heatwaves.
