I deleted it, I need it back. I DON'T WANT PAINT.NET OR AN OUTDATED VERSION OF IT!!! I NEED PAINT BACK!!! PLEASE REAL ANSWERS ONLY!!! THANKS.
I'm familiar with system restore, HOWEVER... I don't have one that has MS paint still on it... and my main account got attacked by malware... so I has to delete it and start over... windows vista inspiron 1520 laptop BTW
I SAID THAT IT IS TOTALLY DELETED!!!! IT'S NOT ON A SYSTEM RESTORE BECAUSE I DELETED IT A LOOOOOOOOONG TIME AGO... AND I ALSO SAID THAT I DON'T WANT PAINT.NET!!!!! I WANT THE WINDOWS VISTA VERSION OF MS PAINT. IT'S NOT IN MY RECYCLE BIN. I DIDN'T DELETE THE SHORTCUT. IT'S NOT IN MY SYSTEM RESTORE. I HAVE NO SYSTEM RESTORES FROM THE DATE I DELETED IT. I Googled this and turned up a previous question asked on Y! Answers.

You can download mspaint.exe from this location: http://www.jonmega.com/iceman/sysfiles/download_SP1.php but you should be careful of possible viruses or malware in the files.

Use System Restore to undo your deletion.

I thought I should write a bit more here. Are you familiar with System Restore? If not, it is a system utility which takes an image of the system about every twenty four hour period. Users can also quickly create manual restore points. Then, when something goes wrong, such as deleting Paint, well you can undo the action.

Click on the Start Orb and type System Restore into the Search box. When it is in the Programs list, right click and select Run as Administrator. Enter a password if required.

The System Restore Utility Opens. Click the option to Undo changes to the System. Click Next.

Now, select a date as close to the day you deleted Paint. Active Restore Points are highlighted, dates you can't use are grayed out. You want to select a date as close to the day you deleted Paint as possible, because this action also undos other system configurations, and any software you may have installed. Your documents and other personal files will be left alone, but configurations in programs will be lost. Click Next.

Just finish up by clicking through the pages and finally when you click Finish your system will automatically reboot. When you finish rebooting and log back onto your account a message will greet you with the news of a successful or failure of the process. It is usually a success.

Now, if you noticed on the first page where you selected the action you wanted to perform, in this case to undo changes with system restore, there was another option to create a manual restore point.

This option is of great value and service to anyone using a Windows based OS. System Restore has been expanded upon in Vista, but it was useful in XP in its reduced incarnation.

If you get into the habit of creating manual restore points before you make any changes to your system, such as deleting programs, files, making configuration changes and/or hardware additions to your system you can have a more fine tuned control over your system and system restore.

When you create manual restore points the restore point is added to a list. The list allows a more fine tuned choice, by allowing the user to actually create several points in a day, rather than the single point System Restore creates automatically. These manual points are in addition to the system created points. Had you created a manual restore point prior to the action you performed in deleting Paint, you could have restored your system to that point in time immediately before, rather than a day or more prior. You can see how handy that would be.

Anyway, good luck in recovering your Paint application. I won't ask why you deleted it in the first place.

Are you aware that using Caps Lock and typing in a forum in all upper case letters in the Online version of shouting? I just wanted you to be aware of that if you weren't already. I am not criticizing you, just attempting to enlighten you to a basic forum fact. Some people actually will refuse to respond to a question when the asker, in this case you, is perceived to be yelling at them. If you don't mind, a good option to emphasize a statement or word is like this, *don't yell at me, please!* lol

Good luck and I hope you recover your paint application quickly, please have a nice day.

How desperate are you? If worse comes to worse
you can back up your files and anything else you need to save, and do a full factory restore. It's really not difficult at all!
I think the restore disc should work as well.
I have done a full restore on my emachines, and you get a "brand new out of box" experience.
When you are done restoring, just reload your files etc...
I hope this was helpful?
