| How do I paint my room? What color should I paint my room? I only want to paint one or two walls. I am 14 and want a boy-friendly color which could color up my room as right now it looks really drab. Any tips? What tools would be easiest? |

| How much money you have might affect this question. I would consider going to one of the big box paint stores (home depot, lowe's, friedman's) and ask to see their discount or 'bone-yard' paints. Different stores use different names. It might be their 'mistakes' bin, or something like that. You can buy a gallon of $25 paint for a dollar or two, because the colors were mixed incorrectlyly. Its a great way to purchase good paint at a very low price. Also, those same stores will have cheap painting 'kits' that often contain a plastic roller tray, a roller and handle and a cheap brush. Perfect for the first time do-it-yourselfer such as yourself. And let them know what you are doing. They will be glad to answer questions and help you out with ideas. Get a role of blue maskiing tape, and a cheap roll of painters plastic - its a very thin plastic sheeting to cover the carpet, furniture, etc. mask off with the blue tape what you don't want to paint. Be prepared to hang around a wait a bit, as the paint departments usually are a bit understaffed. Colors: Light is good. generally, go lighter then you think, because dark walls tend to be a bit over-bearing after awhile. pale or golden yellows, light tans are nice. Even very pale green can look nice. Its your room. Go with a color that strikes your interest. Good Luck Mike |
