The world of art?

Hi, I live in St. Louis, MO and I'm thinking about going for a career in acting, something that has to do with the world of film, my idea is not only be an actress, that's a possibility but something to do with movies, so my question is: does anyone know about a good school to start with, where and how do I start, info on schools, or what options I have in the world of art in St. Louis? I am not thinking of spending the rest of my life here in this state, because if I make it in this career I would follow where I can perform, and by the way I'm already 24, any advice, any info? I would appreciated with all my heart....Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, I love writing stories, poems, songs, etc... where and how do I start showing my skills on writing? THANKS
