It seems that people will covet things they've never seen before. As in the coke bottle. It's been awhile since I last saw the film but what I remember is the insanity of everything that is directly linked to the articels falling from the sky, or things nobody else has. Ethnical relativism?....Soft Universalism?..I don't see it, it's a B-comedy...maybe C I'm not sure there was a philosophical point trying to be made. But if by chance you do see one...by all means, please share your thoughts. Namaste

Philosophy in "The Gods Must be Crazy"? Have you seen that movie? I'm trying to relate it to philosophy but I got stuck. How does this movie illustrate the concept of differences in world view and how world views govern individual behavior? How does the video provide examples of both ethnical relativism and soft universalism?

Wow, I saw that movie 14 years ago in 7th grade! I've seen it a few times since and remember it pretty well. I was thinking about my religious views at that point, with my Bar Mitzvah approaching, but I wasn't thinking about philosophical concepts at that level. I would love to help you analyze it now but I'm afraid that cultural philosophy wasn't really my thing (I studied metaphysics) and I don't have the familiarity with those terms to properly discuss this (there's a lot of types of ethical relativism and I don't know much about any of them and I don't know what soft universalism means, but I could make some guesses). Perhaps if you elaborate on what you mean in your question I could give you some ideas. Great movie though. The sequal was kind of dumb.
