| What do you think of this philosophy? Am i in the wrong state of mind?
I go by the reasoning that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Aka two wrongs don’t make a right. Killing people who kill peole is wrong. Slapping your kid to teach hitting is wrong is so contradictory! I hate contradictions… I love options but not exceptions! There is a reason solitary confinement is a punishment in all societies and I think it is the worst punishment. Behavior is a reaction to emotion, if you have Nobody to behave towards, it allows no expression of emotion. |

Try operating for one week without the obstacle of personal opinions or judgments. Don't try to control anyone in your environment. Just observe. Don't feel the need to adhere to any system beliefs. I think you will find the answer you seek is right in front of your face. You may find that this is a very freeing attitude. Its sounds like you are on the right track. Life is not about absolutes, just self inflicted obstacles.

"Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself - I am large, I contain multitudes." - Walt Whitman The thing is, it's a philosophy. Someone could philosophically debate that you're wrong, but there's no clear-cut answer. I don't generally support vengeance (eye for an eye, two wrongs..., killing killers, etc...) but think in some cases it's for the better. I don't support structured sentences (ie: death penalty, etc...), but if some kid gets fed up with his dad beating him and his mom and ends up killing him, do I think that kid should be convicted? Hell no. If someone knows someone's gonna do something cruel and does what it takes to stop it, is that wrong? ... when attacking someone else saves other innocent people? Whether you're right or wrong isn't the issue. However, I think you're oversimplifying things. And I love contradictions. As sentient beings, we should contradict ourselves from time to time. And sometimes the passions that cause people to go for another's eye are the same passions that drive them nurture others and find meaning in the world around them. You can't get rid of the bad without also getting rid of the good. |
