| is existentialism still a meaningful philosophy in the 21st century?
why or why not? I think that it is, but i am having a hard time thinking of answers why it is still meaningful, for the matterwhy it is not as well. What are your opinions on this topic?

Yes, it is still meaningful. Since the basic definition of existentialism is, "a philosophical movement that posits that individuals create the meaning and essence of their lives, as opposed to deities or authorities creating it for them." I would say a great many people feel this way without realizing it. The non-religious for example, probably feel that way unconsciously, and there are still many, manly existentialists around. Athiests are an important factor in this, but by no means the only factor. Many still feel "God is dead." and some do not believe this. Point being: Existentialism will always affect society to some point, even if it is only in the doubts of the theists. |
