Philosophy Question?

A satellite that provides weather info for the Western US and the Pacific failed last week. Investigators speculate that the failture was due to a solar flare cuz one occured shortly before the failure and there were magnetic disturbances on earth shortly afterward typical of such flares. Solar flares produce streams of subatomic articles that can easily damage electronic devices not protected by the atmosphere.
a)Something is known indirectly, what is it?
b)What tells you it is indirect?
c)What does indirectness tell you about the "because"?
d)Write out a structured paraphrase of the article, making sure it reflects all this.
