| Do you believe Bruce Lee's combat concepts or philosophy are true? Why?
For example, some of his sayings were: -The highest technique is to have no technique. My technique is a result of your technique; my movement is a result of your movement. A good JKD man does not oppose force or give way completely. He is pliable as a spring; he is the complement and not the opposition to his opponent’s strength. He has no technique; he makes his opponent's technique his technique. He has no design; he makes opportunity his design. One should not respond to circumstance with artificial and "wooden" prearrangement. Your action should be like the immediacy of a shadow adapting to its moving object. Your task is simply to complete the other half of the oneness spontaneously. -Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. |

To some extent I agree. To another no. It is impossible to not have a style. A style is a collection of techniques and principles. What do you teach other than techniques and principles. I think he was talking moreso of actual combat. Of not trying but of having trained so much that you can simply allow yourself to react and use whatever technique may be necessary. |

I agree with the second statement but not with the first. Often its better not to react to what people are doing, like in JuJitsu when you roll the person will be trying to make you react to something and when you react that is when he will do the counter move If you stick to your own plan and ignore what your oponent is doing you will win and you wont fall in their trap. The idea has its merits in some situations but not EVERYTHING, its too broad to say that you have to flow with you opponent eall the time, sometimes you get a better result when you throw a rock in the water Actualy that statement is wrong in most fighting, you dont want to be someones shadow, usually its better if you control the situation and they are following you, that way you can lead them into a situation where they are at a disadvantage |

This is all BS. These are all things that someone said way before bruce was born and other crap he added. How can he say "The highest technique is to have no technique." Then contradicts himself by saying "My technique is a result of your technique" ??? Well, does he have "no technique" or is his technique the result of someone elses??? Jeez!!!!! |

Grasshopper, when one acquires the ability to kick arse, then one sees the futility of kicking arse. Only the weak of body or mind wish to fight, those of strong mind or body don't need to. Just look at the planet, don't you see the weak minded oppressing the world?

Bruce also said use what works for you and discard what doesnt. This may have worked for Bruce, but yes I agree with this. As far as Bruce being an actor who talked alot of crap, ask anyone who met him and studied with him. Alot of these guys were fighters before they met Bruce. James Demille for example was a 200lb. boxer who had over a 100 fights, and had knockout power in both hands. He thought what is this little asian man going to teach me about fighting? Well in less than 5 seconds Bruce had him trapped and was able to hit him anywhere at will. This is the result of just about everyone who experimented with Bruce. He was a martial artist first, and an actor second. It was Bruce Lees terrific martial arts ability that got him to be in movies. If you guys dont believe me then go ask Dan Inosanto and he will set the record straight. Go tell him Bruce was just an actor, and couldnt fight. I would love to see that.
