| I'm a ill-informed layman-about the scholarship to philosophy...?
As above
Hello,I'm a university student from Taiwan,Asia.
Philosophy is my favorite,I would be best that I'm blessed to enter the America graduate school to study analytic philosophy.
In common from the view-point in Asia, philosophy is much less useful in practice in the actual world-in other word-it's much harder to make money. So in Taiwan,or even in the most parts of Asia, social resource is seldom poured into the development of philosophy department.Neither does government attach importance to philosophy. So in Asia ordinarily the scholarship to philosophy is much less compaed with those to other departments seeming to be more competitive in making money.
As the one who isn't from the well-to-do and who is pining for go to USA to study phlosophy,I have som question:
Is philosophy valued highly in west world espacially in USA?
To what extent could the scholarship to philosophy cover the life in school?(including schooling, and accommodation fee, living expenditure?)
