Is philosophy a good course?

I'm still not sure what it is but I'm planning to take it next year in grade 12. If anyone has any comments on the course it would be helpful. Mainly I want to know if it's interesting, it sounds like it is but then again I don't know much so I'd like some ideas. Thanks

Go to your library and take a look at books giving you an overview of philosophy.

Bertrand Russell's "History of Western Philosophy" has encouraged a lot of people to pursue philosophical studies.

Will Durant has also written an introductory book outlining the history of philosophy.

Many others have also done so. Browse through some of these introductory books and select one that seems to speak to you well.

If you like to reason and ponder the big questions of life then yes you would find it interesting. It's not an easy subject and the skill of the teacher will make or break the course.

Philosophy is wonderful because it doesn't tell you "what" to think, but "how" to think.
