In my intro philosophy class we learned about Socrates and his chat with Meletus(i believe) and they talk about the Gods and what is good and things of that nature. It is pretty awesome. Then we moved to Renee Descartes, who tries to explain God and good by imagining that God is a deciever. Very interesting and a great way of thinking. Then we moved to David Hume, a skeptic, who goes back and talks about miracles and thought association. In philosophy, the teacher can go just about any route, because there is so much to talk about and of course it is all differing opinions and ways of thinking about something. It was a very enlightening class though and i hope you enjoy it very much.

I would recommend this class to anyone and everyone. It is a different way of viewing the world and it teaches you to read an arguement and find holes and inconsistencies. I don't think job opportunities are very huge in this area, unless you want to be a writer or a philosopher. My philosophy teacher was constantly going to other states and countries to do lectures about his writings. An amazing man with a large knowledge of many things. He knew some math, science etc. He was very knowledgeable. Their are some areas of work that prefer humanities majors. HR departments typically like Humanities Majors because they are more worldly and accept others traditions and backgrounds more readily and they are astute, typically, at finding flaws in arguements. Good luck

Philosophy is an amazing subject! You talk about theories on God, the relationship between the mind and the body, and things such as "can robots ever be classed as humans"? You also talk about how we can know things and how knowledge is acquired. If you enjoy thinking outside the box then you will love it. It has changed my outlook on life.
As for job opportunities, employers love philosophy students, you can go into management jobs, there is a wide range of opportunities but i can't recall many. hope this helps :]
