Which philosophy is more likely to produce more success in life?

Telling people that they can succeed through hard work, education and determination.

Telling people they cannot succeed without benefit of government intervention.

How about how the military operates, since they require all their soldiers from wherever they come from to operate to a certain standard of performance.

That would be a philosophy of success through hardwork, education, determination, and government intervention.

Or do you hate the military because it's socialist in nature?

entreprenuership. Not Welfare. Before one can have an action to produce, you have to understand motive.

Bottom line, people are motivated by different factors. Entreprenuers very often are motivated by fear, failure, success, money and personal influence. Those factors are stronger than what motivates people that believe in governmental intervention. I don't Know what motivates people in the last group because I don't see this group as a motivated group to do anything but take advantage and blame others. (it's my opinion, and I am being honest!).
but I do see a group that IS motivated (think politician) enough to realize they can find their personal success by promoting ideas that TAKES ADVANTAGE of welfare ideas BY ALLOWING WELFARE DRIVEN PEOPLE to think they deserve more (allowing a catch -22 in their thinking.. entitlement?? maybe that is the only motivation for welfare-ian society? They listen to the BS of politicians and somehow BELIEVE they are entitled to what they are saying without ever learning the RESPONSIBILITY of what it takes to actually get there. then because politicians listen to these welfareian society people, that gains politician more status, wealth, getting them closer to their own personal successes in life and in turn breeding the cycle farther along.

I am still all for life being hard, clean and good. I make tons of mistakes, but they are mine, and I am responsible for them. No one else Should be and no One owres me anything. I like it that Way. I am in control... not lazy!!

Great question, I will be reading other peoples responces too. Is there anyone out there that can give me a decent argument for generations of welfare? Keep in mind, I grew up in poverty, my mom was on welfare for 2 years when I was 4-6, she put herself through school (not state paid) held two jobs and still struggled every day to make ends meet. I remember what color food stamps were, I remember hand me down toys, X-mas boxes from St. Vincent De Pauls, Government Cheese. I remember.... I will never forget. and thank god that drives me harder now. because I will never go back to that. I appreciate my mom for teaching me the RIGHT welfare lesson, and myself for continuing to make the harder but better choices.

It all depends on who you are? a young black man in the getto with a crank additcted mother is hardly going to be able to get out of debt. Go to a good school and get a good education and succeed without help.
Or a story about someone:
She was raised by a drug addicted mother and never knew who her father was. Was kicked out of high school she just wore rags to school and dinner was what she could salvage out of garbage cans behind the pizza place.
The government got her into a foster home. Which got her into vocational schooling, which trained her for a job.
People in her position got pregnant and had a baby for an income. Died young addicted to drugs.
That was your life. Some said she doesn't have the ability to learn. But she did and she graducated and got a job and now runs a very successful company. She could not have done that with out help from the government.
So if your a child of parents who are rich or middle class and care about you. That philosphy works, but it doesn't work for everyone.
That is from the religious right that has never read the bible.

(Matthew 25:34-26:2) 34*“Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, YOU who have been blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for YOU from the founding of the world. 35*For I became hungry and YOU gave me something to eat; I got thirsty and YOU gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and YOU received me hospitably; 36*naked, and YOU clothed me. I fell sick and YOU looked after me. I was in prison and YOU came to me.’ 37*Then the righteous ones will answer him with the words, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty, and give you something to drink? 38*When did we see you a stranger and receive you hospitably, or naked, and clothe you? 39*When did we see you sick or in prison and go to you?’ 40*And in reply the king will say to them, ‘Truly I say to YOU, To the extent that YOU did it to one of the least of these my brothers, YOU did it to me.’ 41*“Then he will say, in turn, to those on his left, ‘Be on YOUR way from me, YOU who have been cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the Devil and his angels. 42*For I became hungry, but YOU gave me nothing to eat, and I got thirsty, but YOU gave me nothing to drink. 43*I was a stranger, but YOU did not receive me hospitably; naked, but YOU did not clothe me; sick and in prison, but YOU did not look after me.’ 44*Then they also will answer with the words, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister to you?’ 45*Then he will answer them with the words, ‘Truly I say to YOU, To the extent that YOU did not do it to one of these least ones, YOU did not do it to me.’ 46*And these will depart into everlasting cutting-off, but the righteous ones into everlasting life.” 26 Now when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples: 2*“YOU know that two days .*.*.

neither philosophy works for me actually. if you tell people that with hard work they can achieve anything than they will most likely have unrealistic expectations for themselves and if they do not succeed then they will wonder why after all there hard work.

and the government needs to stay out of other peoples business anyway.

That's a very black and white view of the world, government is not the answer, but hard work does not always lead to success, and many people don't have the opportunities other people have.

The first one,

besides the second one assures failure because people eventaully will not be able to preform any function what so ever without a teacher, someone who has done the work b4.

C'est Pas Vrai! has a spectacular aura about
The first one,

...except for the fact that the political party you're trying to lionize no longer follows most of that first phrase (especially the education part), and the other political party that you're trying to demonize never followed by the second phrase.
