About philosophy?

Is a philosopher one who asks questions to others that he has already figured out for himself?

Meaning, he asks questions that could be like "The meaning of life" to others, but he already knows his own answer?

Really is a philosopher just someone asking a bunch of questions to help people think about their lives.

and...

Do they know the answers or are they asking because they don't know?

It was a thought and i am curious to find out what people say.

My professor said we are all practically philosophers, because we take actions upon our thoughts. Basically, whoever thinks and do is a philosopher.
One may not be sophisticated enough to explain his or her way of life, but surely, decides and do on they think its appropriate, even agreeing with or opposing other's philosophy, say the sophist, for example.

But I think you are talking about is how some philosophers approach their peers. Sometime, they may pose a series of question to show our, including themselves, ignorance about the subject and encourage a deeper explanation and discovery for that subject. But in the post modern society, philosophers might like to make observation and a plausible statement, and then support the claim with more observation, like scientist.

One last thing, the literal translation for philosopher is the lover of wisdom.
