Good philosophy departments?

Can anyone share their experiences with certain philosophy departments in the US? Good or bad. I'm on the hunt for a top-notch undergraduate education.

Thanks,
The Convictionist

PS- Don't bother linking me to the Philosophical Gourmet. Been there, done that.

I'm not up to date, but when I was at Cornell (5 years ago), they were in the process of a talent raid of Princeton, highering the former grad students of David Lewis after he died. It really improved the quality of the metaphysics program there, extending the department well beyond the traditional areas that Cornell was already good at. I'm not sure how many of them are still there, as they were all new and not yet tenured professors.

A lot of it depends on what areas of philosophy interest you though. Also, keep in mind that most people change their majors, often twice. Don't go to a school just because it has a good program in what you want at the expense of the other programs and the other factors in choosing a school.

I went to Cornell partly because they have a good physics program. Turned out the program was very good and I couldn't do the math well enough to graduate from Cornell in that major. My philosophy grades were much much better.
