| English and philosophy major thinking about going to medical school?
Hi! I'm going through a lot of academic woes right now; woes that will affect my future if I don't act soon enough to fix things up, or at least put things into motion. I'm 23 yrs old, majoring in English and Philosophy in 2nd year, thinking of going into medical school. One of the problems that I'm having right now are these: 1.) I failed my first year (nervous breakdown; took medications, which only made me gained 50 pounds in a span of two months) at the university. Took a few years off and came back. I'm doing better, but there is still room for improvement. How will Medical schools look upon this? (even if I work very hard during the next two years)
2.) I didn't take any science-related courses during my last two years back in high school, so I didn't have the prerequisites to get into programs such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. What are my options? Go back for a second undergraduate degree in Science, which means taking high school science courses again? Please help!
