paper in my philosophy of religion class on islamic extremists/ treatment of women?

I am assigned to write a 10 page paper in my philosophy of religion class... It can be on any topic I choose. I was first going to write my paper on the concept of faith and reason in Islamic extremists. I am torn between choosing that topic and this second idea I had, which is to argue how there is not reason in the treatment of women in Islamic faith. Can anyone help me formulate a thesis or direct me to what main points I should address in the paper...or better yet if these topics are worthy or not?

The best argument youll ever have is Islams own teachings.

Islam gives women an incredible state.

something unprecedented and unheard of back in the old Arabian desert...and definitely not something the Christians or Jews had.

Although I am not totally sure of the Jewish bit, everyone knows how women were perceived by the Church not so long ago.

Back to your paper, you should address how the religion has laws that give men more responsibility than women (males are responsible for feeding the family, the woman is not, this does not mean she shouldnt, it means she is in no fault if she cant.), and you can understand how a female has received honor and dignity in Islam.

Then if I were you, I would adress how the current cultures in Middle East came about. The selfishness of male ego, overriding both religious script to take hold of society, coupled with the females reluctance to fight for their rights.

This would ofcourse be a paper about culture, religion, and history.
