Help needed for philosophy!?

So i have a paper to write and am having hard time figuring out the role of reason for can Kant's ethics. Please give me an explanation in simpler words! Thanks in advance.

Kant tells us that not only should we behave in certain ways, but that we can know the ways in which we should behave, i.e. if we can imagine everyone behaving in those ways and we like what we see in our minds, those are the ways we should behave in.

It's called the categorical imperative but those are big words, like marmalade.

Kant placed reason right at the centre of ethics - reason is the only way you can learn moral facts (you can't learn them from experience). So said Kant.
