| Philosophy is the beginning of all knowledge, but is it also the end?
I say this just to explain that philosophy is considered to be the mother of all branches of knowledge. Your valuable thoughts are most appreciated! ************************************************** ***************************************** I endorse to this Marla, that philosophy is more about asking questions then it is about find answers, ************************************************** ***************************************** This is a very vital point Aztec and if we prove that philosophy is not ending end then we can also see that it was not the a beginning absolute. |

knowledge about things in the world is endless, because new forms are continuously arising. but there is a different kind of knowledge whereby you know what is beyond knowledge and beyond logic. this maybe considered the end of knowledge and the aim of philosophy.

There have been many great philosophers through the ages. Their wisdom is only accepted if it 'fits' with the current society's rules. Marx was awarded a doctorate (PhD) for his work. You don't get those when you're wrong about something! but his philosophy didn't fit, so it is unknown by the masses. Philosophy is not the end of knowledge, there will always be questions, but we only learn about the philosophy that 'fits'.

Philosophy has no end because it is the quest for truth. We may have all the knowledge but philosophy is a set of pursuits which, in various ways and across a range of endeavours, investigates truth, meaning, knowledge, reason, existence and value. Knowledge is only one of them but there are varied aspects which philosophy covers. The questions are linked, in that they supply or at least suggest interpretations of each other. Questions might seem now to be the possession of philosophy's daughters, the natural sciences, but these latter in their own turn generte new forms of the ancient question, and so far has made slow progress with the puzzles as for example the nature of consciousness, and its role in shaping how the world appears to us. Thanks for asking. Have a great day! |

Philosophy is simply LOVE of WISDOM. Emphasis on both LOVE and on WISDOM. But after awhile, you not only love the beloved, but you seek union with her. Union is the end, where you and the beloved are no longer separate and philosophy is you and you are philosophy. |

It does seem that philosophy can not answer the questions it poses. This is especially ironic when you consider that it was the mother of science, politics, economics, ect... In response to a very similar question, my philosophy professor said "as all the other subjects branched off and solved their problems, philosophy always remained that subject where no answers existed, yet." I think she said yet because some of the questions posed by philosophy may very well be answered by science. Think about AI. We are getting close to the answer to the nature of consciousness. We are also making progress in mind-body connection problems. there still will remain only those subjective questions. I do not think any field will solve ethical dilemmas. Philosophy is simply thinking about why and how we think. |
