You need to think about a career you want, and then see what major is required. Going from major to finding a job is much more difficult, and the job market is very competitive. You may technically be qualified for certain jobs or schools after, but you will be up against people that are specifically trained for the job/program. Philosophy will not get you a job, and professional schools may prefer that you have something more related. I would think about what you want to do for a job, then pick a mjaor on that. You can always minor in philosophy, or even just take some extra classes. Med schools require a lot of science classes that wouldn't apply to your philosophy degree. You don't want to go to school for 4 years and have a degree that you can't do anything with. If you don't get into grad school, you will be screwed.

If you really want to, go for it. It will probably be more work to make sure you get relevant classes for the programs you want. Make sure you start thinking about what kind of program ou will want to get into so that you can get the classes done and do well in them.

First Kenyon college is a great college - good on you.

And yes philosophy is a good thing to study if you like it. I have a degree in math and am doing a graduate certificate in philosophy for the fun of it. Don't worry if it will get you a job or not. That is unimportant. It will train you in how to think. That will be an excellent preparation for post grad studies. These days every Tom, Dick and Harry has a Bachelors. The best jobs need post grad and philosophy is a great preparation for just about any post-grad you decide to do.

Thanks
Bill
