HELP! opinions please!! (about photography)?

I have to write an essay on how the use of black and white instead of colour in a photograph, can help make the photograph appear abstract.

The only thing I can think of is that people don't seen in black and white, which makes black and white images look abstract to us.

ANY IDEAS? PLEASE HELP!

I would appretiate any ideas, comments, suggestions, anything please!
