What are some good photography colleges/schools? Will my academics matter

for acceptance? I'm a sophmore in high school, and I'm almost positive I want to major in photography. I also want to minor in liberal arts, preferably history.
I just come in conflicts with schools because liberal arts schools don't always offer photography, but Art schools almost always offer liberal arts minors.

My GPA is a 3.7222 and I'm in honors english and taking AP English next and senior year, along with photography.

I also live in Michigan. About 45 minutes from Detriot. So far I'm considering the Center for Creative Studies and Calvin (In Grand Rapids), But I'd REALLYY love to go to a school in New York, because I want to be a fashion photographer.

So to any photographers out there, what school did you go to? If I have a strong GPA but just an average portfolio but it shows potential, do I still have a good chance of getting accepted?

I'm a sophomore at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) in Georgia and it is AMAZING. I'm an illustration major but I have photography major friends and their work blows my mind. The school offers majors and minors both in Art History and Photography. Grades do matter to get in, but you don't have to worry. I think you need like a 2.5 or 3.0 and your portfolio doesn't have to be superb either. The school wants everyone who is serious about art to get in, but only the really serious students last. I think SCAD has one of the top Freshman drop out rates of any art college in the nation because they want to weed out the ones who aren't serious about art (you don't have to be very very talented, just willing to work hard and learn). And the cost is huge, but WELL worth it. You're pretty much gauranteed a good job if you graduate from here. Not to mention the experience is a blast!
