Does it have to be Nikon ?? ......depends on your budget and how seriously you are getting into fashion photography. Personaly I would go with the Canon eos 5D with the battery grip. ......full frame sensor, very good low light tonal response, high res.(can easily do a A3 print at 300dpi), quite a few coming onto the market secondhand now at as little as £900($1800) If your budget can stretch further ....maybe a used Canon 1Ds mkII ? ......full frame sensor, 16.7 megapixel for BIG enlargements, rugged, weatherproofed. About £2000($4000) body only used. Last year was £4500($9000) new. If it HAS to be Nikon then maybe the D3 if you are serious although it is brand new so no used examples. Lenses? .....Don't go for cheap lenses. If you camera is capable of hi res. then getting a cheap lens for it means you've wasted your money. Generaly anything from 50 -300mm. A 200 will blur out the background nicely. Ideal situation; one body with something like a 24 -70 f2.8 fast zoom and the other with say, a 70 - 200 f2.8 fast tele zoom. With budget considerations if it had to be one lens then it would be either the fastest 50 -135mm or fastest 70 - 200mm lens you can afford. That's just my opinion
