Where can I get photography tips online?

I just got a new digital camera and a friend of mine who is a really good photographer is going to help me out and show me some things but in the meantime I'd like to brush up and come prepared.

Are there any sites that have pictures so you know what the difference is between f-stops, etc? Like a photograph of f8 and f16 or something?

sounds like you have a digital SLR
f-stop controls how much light is let in. f/22 is the smallest and f/2 is the largest. The shutter speed like 1/60, 1/125. 1/1000 also controls how much light goes in. It controls the shutter speed
