photography help please?

hi im a young photographer (13) and well im saving for a olympus E-410 so i cant buy anytihng at the moment but i realy want a kina light (like studio lights but they are a few thousond pounds) any suggestion what i could use insted ?
and also any good tips to get children to be intrseted in the photo being taked (i have a verry bad 5 yr old cousin)

As a former child photographer, I would definately say stay away from tungston lights. They're hot, they show up yellow. they make kids squint and you''ll have to use a slower shutter speed.AC flash is, lite, cheap fast and most important, off.

on the 5 year old,
have a box of prizes, like a treasure box, haha.
well, put it on the sinde, and for like every five minutes she is helping you then you can let her get a prize.

A favourite toy does help most of the time for kids that age. Go to shop were they specialise in cameras and you can get more information about the subject

Actually I'd go for a studio light... why not consider something second hand. You can buy very decent flash units on eBay but a tungsten-based option would be much cheaper - although they can get very hot to work under.

Little children - there are loads of free (web based) people photography tutorials / pro tips here, as well as one specifically on shooting kids;
