Looking for more information about photography portfolios?

I'm a high school junior preparing for college and I'm planning on applying to several art schools for photography. I've been reading about admissions portfolios and I just want a bit more information about what I should include... For example what size should the photographs be? What should they be of? etc. etc. Any sort of guideline would be extremely helpful!
