| About Photography? Um I just recently got interested in photography. I'm 16 years old and I graduate in 2010 and when I go to college I want to atleast have a little experience with it. I really want to be a photographer, that's why I want to start already. What are the basics about photography? What are some good ways to start? I have a kodak digital camera, do you think it's a good camera to start with? Oh and what college do you recomend? Thank you! |

| P&S cameras are fun for shooting your friends and family, but to learn "photography" you will need an adjustable camera like a 35mm SLR or DSLR. That said, most colleges require the students use film for the first two semesters at least (some require film to be used throughout a full two year program ... digital being an elective for those who can afford a DSLR for their existing lenses). Look on craigs list for a good 35mm Nikon or Canon SLR with lens (under $200) Samples in my area: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/pho/607129073.html http://phoenix.craigslist.org/pho/604607072.html If you buy a camera like those, you can learn to expose and compose your images before you get to school and then be able to focus on learning photo techniques and now to control the whole process from exposure to printing of your images, not how to use your camera . Most community colleges have good photo programs in their art departments. If you get hooked and decide to go pro, look at these schools: Art Center - http://www.artcenter.edu Brooks - http://www.brooks.edu RIT - http://www.rit.edu |
