She has decided to submit a photograph of a pitcher of water with green food coloring in it, with a light behind it. She thinks the photograph will be more striking if she it has areas of dark green color and areas of pale green color within the same pitcher. She does not want all the water the same shade of green as she thinks that will be boring. Janet plans to add the dye to the water and then compose the picture, adjusting the lighting, etc. until it looks just right. Should she put the dye into hot water she has boiling on the stove for this purpose or into the ice water in a pitcher on the table? Explain.
