Ok, where to start?
By 'photography style' I assume you mean 'professional quality'. Saying 'photography style photos' is like saying 'painting style paintings', or 'drawing style sketches'.
So, moving on. If you want professional quality, DO NOT get a point and shoot.
And to the poster above, Pentax is NOT a high quality camera. (Lest you say I don't know what I'm talking about, I own a Canon, a Nikon, and a Holga [for fun]. I HAD a Pentax, but I took it apart for an experiment because I wouldn't miss it, because it sucked).
If you're looking for professional quality, you have to pay money for it, just like the professionals. However, I imagine you're pretty young... A good compromise would very likely be the Canon Rebel XT; it's still a Canon (see also: Excellent quality), but it's more affordable than most (+/- $700).
Moving down the price range, if it absolutely has to be a point and shoot (pocket cam), I'd personally go with a Sony Cybershot.
Moving up the price range, there is the incredibly satisfying Nikon D200. A beautiful camera which I'm proud to have in my collection and which I make most of my money with.
Moving further up the price range, there is the glorious and beautiful Canon 5D. I cannot afford one of these babies ($4,000 for the camera body), but trust me, I'm saving up.
Hope you find a good camera for you.
