physics help pvt surfaces?

(a)
Explain what is meant by the PVT surface of a fixed amount of a pure substance.
(b)
How could a PVT surface be used (if at all) to specify the following:
1)a particular equilibrium state,
2)a particular non-equilibrium state,
3) a particular quasi-static process?
