| Chemisty & Physics?
Why is frictional force important when considering the acceleration, or constant velocity, of an object? Why is the coefficient of friction between metal surfaces independent to the contact area?      |

Because friction always acts to oppose the acceleration. I think friction between surfaces are never depedent on surface area...only on the force on the surface. Well, except if its like ridiculous jagged or something..but in general..its not depedent on area |
