| Physics???
A yo-yo has two wooden disks of mass M and radius R attached by a steel shaft of mass 3/2M and radius 1/2R. A slender nylon thread of length L is spooled around the shaft. Find an expression for the time needed for the yo-yo to reach the bottom. What fraction of the yo-yo’s weight is the tension in the thread? Give an expression for the impulse needed to be applied to the thread so that the yo-yo gets jerked up back to the hand after it reaches the bottom. |
