| !!Physics help needed Please!!????
A small block is sent through point A with a speed of 7.9 m/s. Its path is without friction until it reaches the section of length L = 12 m, where the coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.70. The indicated heights are h1 = 7.9 m and h2 = 1.8 m. Point a begins with a drop, h1, where point B is at the bottom of the drop, after point B it rises h2 where point C is at the top of that rise. It is then straight from C to D with is length L=12m and has friction. (a) What is the speed of the block at point B? (b) What is the speed of the block at point C? (c) Does the block reach point D? If so, what is its speed there and if not, how far through the section of friction does it travel? Hints: First, choose a reference level at which y = 0. What are the initial values of the kinetic energy and the gravitational potential energy? What are the values at points B and C? The friction transfers energy from kinetic energy. |
