| Low GPA High SAT?
Know that, if you study medicine in Pakistan, you will not be able to return to the US and set up shop as a doctor. You'll have to jump through a lot of hoops. So do the research on that one, if returning to the US is your plan. All universities, seeing your high school grades, will more heavily weight your sophomore and junior grades, and won't place too much weight on your freshman year. So although your overall GPA is a 3.1, in reality, they'll see you via your more recent grades. So take heart. And if there's a reason why your freshaman year grades were poor, and then your grades went up, and you can tell a compelling story re: that in an essay, all the better. You certainly should get into a top 100 school. But when you apply to schools, apply to them as follows:- Reach schools - those where your GPA in your last years is maybe a bit low for them, but your SAT scores are perfect- Maybe fit schools - those where your GPA in your last years is a fit, as are your SAT scores (and maybe even some where your SATs are a bit high for them)- Certainly a fit schools - those where your GPA overall is a fit, and your SATs are high for them- Back up schools - those where your SATs are rather high for them. UVA would certainly be a reach school - but it's a reach for most people. But V Tech might be a fit. If you liked those schools, I'd have you apply to both.
