What is your reason for writing poetry?

I've been hanging out in Yahoo answers for a while now and I just wondered why you all like to write. For me it's great to get out emotions and all, but I just really enjoy creating new and interesting snapshots or perspectives in the world. I also have a lot at stake professionally, so I take the artform really seriously, though. If you write simply because you like to get out your emotions, do you still appreciate constructive criticism? How brutally honest should I be when people ask for criticism? What are your philosophies of the purpose of poetry? Just a few questions I've had since I've been reading the boards...
Very cute, Hux. I like it.

Nice question.
I've been writing, not just poetry before I could write...lol. I would ask my mom to write it for me.
I love being creative, But I write more to help me understand myself better, to get my emotions out.
I love constructive criticism. I always keep my originals as is. Then if I decide to make changes to me it's a new one in a way.
I think being honest is fine and what most people want. There is a difference of constructive criticism and just being mean. Some people here don't care about that.
Anyway happy writing
