Am I weird for not writing poetry that is about myself?

I see a lot of poems which address the writer's emotions. I don't think I have ever written anything like that though . I prefer to write as a character I made up as a part of the story or as an observer . If i wrote something like this , I would not want to share it because they would be my private thoughts. Is there anyone else who feels like this ?

well, i don't think it's weird. i mean, i love writing poetry. it's a way to express you thoughts on life, love , death, etc. and, any way you choose to do that is up to you. i love to put myself into another character, it helps me to see the world in different perspectives. but, like, i don't go crazy with it. i love poetry, and i think it can be percepted any way you want, and no matter what, it's always going to be weird. you just have to be proud of it. not every one can write in another person's point of view. it takes a certain type of person, mind, whatever, to do that. and, if you want to think of yourself as weird, then, whatever. i guess that means I'm weird too! heh. it's a gift, hold it close, and be proud of it. =] Sarah
