I agree. Even though it is called free verse, you still have to use some poetic devices in the poem. It's not completely "free." It just means that you are not limited to a specific form to follow. There is no specific rhyme scheme, no specific syllable count, no specific line count, etc. A poem has to flow, if it doesn't have a specific meter. Before you can break the rules though, you have to learn them. |

What bothers me is that people would let a lame collection of words pass as a "poem" or a form of poetry when evidently it's not making any sense. We should at least try to make sense with what the piece is talking about...not exactly if did it rhyme at the end or not. It annoys me when the poem is done without any direction or sense. There's no structure.
