You probably have read the work of Thomas Hardy, I mean his novels, though its fiction, it makes better sense to me than prose. Hardy understands and narrates objects in nature better than others.
'Tess of D'uberville', 'Return of the Native' would be some to name here, he was also a poet by the way.
