Need Ideas Tonight !! In Poetry !!?

My son needs to write a peom where the speaker is someone other than yourself !! He has no idea as to how to do it. He is in 7th grade, 12 years old, if that helps. Any ideas would be wonderful !! He did mention writing one about video games. I would be very thankful for some help.

Through my tears

No matter where we go in life
I’ll always have you
We’ll be there for each other
No matter where God takes us
And even though I cry
It’s only tears of love I shed for you my dear
You carry me through the bad times
Like the footprints of god
You are my one true angel
You are the light that guides me through this endless darkness
And as I’ve been hurt in the past
You bring me to the future
Without you I feel as though I would only weep
But I know your sprit will always be with me
You are the sun in my eyes
The beauty in my face
The glimpse of hope that carries me through each day

but we can't find the gem

A suggestion: The poem would be about the sun looking down on your back yard. What would the sun think? Or write a poem from a pet's perspective.
